Most of you know that I paint exclusively in watercolors...the only time I use acrylics is when I am doing doll faceups. So I do have acrylics lying around, and I decided yesterday it was high time I learned to work with them. *grin*
So for fun, I did my Halloween ACEO for the FAE swap in acrylics. I'm not totally happy with how she turned out...I can't blend worth crap yet and she took far longer than I ever want to spend on an ACEO. *lol* I find acrylics very awkward to work with at this point, but there are some things about them I really like, so I will continue to use them. My expectation is when I get better with acrylics I will probably end up doing mixed media pieces. (I need to learn how to effectively use my colored pencils as well...) I've been kinda in a watercolor rut, and this is good way for me to kick things up a notch.
Here's the debut of my first acrylic painting!

As for my website updates, I have published them, but haven't sent out my newsletter yet because I can't figure out how to get my shopping cart to link back to my cynnalifantasyart.com homepage, instead of its own homepage. So right now, if you go into my gift shop, you can't get back out without using the back button! *lol* I gotta bite the bullet and figure that out tomorrow. Tonight I'm going to go see the sneak preview of "Guardian"...the Coast Guard movie with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher. There'll be lots of helicopters (Sikorsky Jayhawks, I believe) and since I work for a helicopter company (and our aircranes were originally Sikorskys) I gotta see this movie, right? LOL Of course, Ashton doesn't hurt, either...^_~
And I'm also biting my nails wondering if I got in on Amy Brown's 20 featured artists this time around. I sent my art about 15 seconds after the e-mail address was posted on Thursday, but I haven't heard anything yet. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Well, the movie starts in an hour...I'd better get ready to go down to the theater. Happy weekend, everyone! :)
